Key Responsibilities:

  • Synthesis & Purification: Synthesize, purify, and characterize novel chemical compounds for drug discovery.
  • Project Collaboration: Work closely with a team to drive chemistry projects forward and ensure efficient execution.
  • Reaction Handling: Conduct safe and efficient reactions, including functional group conversion and multi-step synthesis.
  • Advanced Organic Chemistry: Apply both basic and advanced organic chemistry knowledge to deliver high-quality results.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze NMR, IR, and Mass Spectrometry data and use appropriate techniques such as TLC, column purification, and extraction.
  • Safe Laboratory Practices: Follow and promote safe laboratory practices and maintain high standards of safety in all experiments.
  • Reporting & Presentation: Maintain thorough records using electronic lab notebooks, produce progress reports, and present results to colleagues.
  • Software & Tools: Use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and structure drawing software (Chem Draw/ISIS) for documentation and reporting. Conduct literature searches using tools like Reaxys.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Educational Qualification: M.Sc in Organic Chemistry, M. Pharma, or a related field.
  • Experience: 1-5 years of industry experience in synthetic chemistry, preferably in a leading CRO organization.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Expertise in organic chemistry with a focus on synthesis and purification techniques.
    • Knowledge of retrosynthetic analysis (desirable).
    • Strong knowledge of pyrophoric reactions, TLC, column purification, extraction techniques.
    • Proficiency in analyzing spectroscopic data (NMR, IR, Mass Spectrometry).
    • Proficient in computer skills (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and structure drawing (Chem Draw/ISIS).
    • Ability to work in a dynamic research environment and deliver results under increasing project challenges.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
