Job Overview

The Research Associate will support chemical synthesis projects by executing reactions, preparing target molecules, and assisting in analytical evaluations. This entry-level role is ideal for candidates looking to begin a career in organic or medicinal chemistry while working with global clients in a structured, safety-focused laboratory environment.

Key Responsibilities

Chemical Synthesis and Reaction Execution

  • Perform chemical reactions to synthesize target molecules as per project and client specifications.

  • Understand project requirements, synthetic routes, and safety guidelines before initiating work.

  • Review and discuss Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) with the team.

  • Identify potential safety risks and escalate concerns to the supervisor.

  • Plan and conduct reactions using appropriate reagents, glassware, equipment, and controlled conditions.

  • Execute multiple reactions in parallel while maintaining quality and timelines.

  • Monitor reactions using standard analytical techniques and document observations.

  • Perform workups, purification, and isolation of intermediates or final compounds to achieve required purity and quality.

  • Analyze and interpret analytical data and contribute to project reports.

Laboratory Safety and Compliance

  • Follow Good Laboratory Practices (GLP), safety procedures, and established quality systems.

  • Ensure proper handling, maintenance, and usage of laboratory instruments and equipment as per SOPs.

  • Maintain clean and organized workspaces in accordance with housekeeping standards.

Documentation, Data Integrity, and Confidentiality

  • Accurately document all experimental work, reaction conditions, and observations in laboratory notebooks.

  • Adhere to data integrity policies and uphold strict intellectual property (IP) confidentiality.

  • Support preparation of final reports and project documentation as required.

Continuous Learning and Skill Development

  • Participate in training programs and discussions to enhance knowledge in organic synthesis, analytical techniques, and safe laboratory practices.

  • Work closely with supervisors to develop technical expertise and improve performance.

Required Skills

  • Fundamental understanding of organic and medicinal chemistry concepts.

  • Basic knowledge of laboratory safety protocols.

  • Familiarity with data integrity and confidentiality practices.

  • Ability to manage resources effectively and follow structured workflows.

Educational Qualification

  • M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry or Medicinal Chemistry

  • Freshers are eligible to apply.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates with research publications in recognized scientific journals will be given preference.
