Role Overview: Regulatory Affairs – Foods & Nutrition Portfolio
The Regulatory Affairs Specialist will lead end-to-end regulatory compliance for the Foods portfolio, ensuring alignment with Indian food laws and applicable global regulatory standards. The role supports new product launches, reformulations, claims validation, fortification initiatives, and labeling compliance while enabling speed-to-market and minimizing regulatory risk.
This position requires strong expertise in FSSAI regulations, nutrition labeling, legal metrology compliance, and cross-functional regulatory strategy execution.
Key Responsibilities
Regulatory Strategy & Compliance
Lead regulatory compliance for the Foods portfolio in accordance with FSSAI, Legal Metrology, and other applicable regulations
Monitor and interpret regulatory updates including FSSAI notifications, labeling norms, nutrition claims, fortification standards, and food safety requirements
Develop and execute regulatory strategies for new product launches, reformulations, and innovations
Manage artwork approvals and ensure label compliance
Draft and review Statement of Ingredients (SOI) and prepare responses to regulatory queries
Ensure compliance of raw materials (existing and new)
Support implementation of digital regulatory tools and systems
Nutrition & Claims Management
Ensure nutrition, health, and functional claims comply with FSSAI and relevant international standards
Partner with R&D and Marketing to develop compliant, consumer-relevant nutrition communication
Provide regulatory leadership on product fortification, clean label initiatives, and responsible nutrition programs
Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Legal, Marketing, Procurement, and Supply Chain teams to drive compliant growth
Act as primary liaison for FSSAI licensing matters with external consultants and state authorities
Coordinate cross-functional documentation for FSSAI license approvals and renewals
Risk Management & Training
Identify and mitigate regulatory risks across the value chain
Conduct regulatory training and awareness sessions for cross-functional teams
Align regulatory strategies with broader business objectives
Experience & Technical Skills Required
2–7 years of hands-on experience in Regulatory Affairs within the FMCG or food industry
Strong working knowledge of FSSAI regulations, State FDA requirements, Nutrition regulations, and Legal Metrology Act
Experience in product approvals, labeling compliance, claims substantiation, and licensing documentation
Exposure to regulatory strategy for new product development and reformulation
