Job Overview

Syneos Health is hiring an experienced Program Manager – Pharmacovigilance, Safety & Medical to lead complex, cross-functional programs within its Technology & Data Solutions (TDS) business unit. This strategic role is responsible for end-to-end program governance, portfolio execution, stakeholder management, and delivery of technology-enabled solutions supporting pharmacovigilance, safety, and medical operations.

The position requires strong leadership, deep understanding of healthcare systems, safety operations, and technology-driven product development, and proven experience managing large, multi-project portfolios in a regulated life sciences environment.


Key Responsibilities

Program & Portfolio Management

  • Lead end-to-end execution of complex programs, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and timelines

  • Drive portfolio prioritization, planning, and execution across multiple interdependent projects

  • Manage program risks, issues, dependencies, and mitigation strategies with transparent stakeholder communication

  • Define program goals, scope, milestones, success metrics, and governance frameworks

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Act as a strategic liaison between business, technology, safety, and medical teams

  • Oversee project managers delivering product development initiatives of varying complexity

  • Align program outcomes with broader business objectives and organizational strategy

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and leadership teams

Process, Governance & Change Management

  • Establish and refine program, project, and portfolio management processes, timelines, and priorities

  • Approve project exceptions and modifications within defined authority levels

  • Analyze the impact of new initiatives or scope changes and optimize resource allocation

  • Support benefits realization and value tracking in partnership with Business Partners and Product Managers

Vendor & Financial Oversight

  • Manage relationships with external technology vendors, including SOW and PO management

  • Ensure effective budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking across the program

  • Optimize resource utilization across projects and portfolios


Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences, Healthcare Technology, or a related discipline

  • Master’s degree or MBA is an advantage

Experience

  • 8–12 years of progressive experience in program or portfolio management

  • Prior experience within pharmaceuticals, pharmacovigilance, safety, medical affairs, or healthcare technology strongly preferred

  • Demonstrated success managing large, complex, cross-functional programs

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong understanding of technology systems, business processes, and regulated healthcare environments

  • Proven expertise in program governance, budgeting, and resource management

  • Advanced knowledge of project and program management methodologies and tools

  • Excellent stakeholder communication, leadership, and decision-making skills

  • Ability to manage ambiguity and drive outcomes in a fast-paced, global environment

  • PMP or equivalent certification preferred
