Role Summary

As a Principal Statistical Programmer (P23 Level), you will:

  • Develop and maintain statistical programming standards and best practices

  • Provide technical expertise and leadership for programming solutions

  • Deliver accurate, high-quality statistical outputs to support statisticians, clients, and internal teams

  • Contribute to process improvements that increase efficiency and productivity

  • Mentor junior programmers and guide cross-functional collaboration


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, validate, and maintain analysis datasets, tables, listings, and graphs

  • Provide statistical programming support for client, business, or statistical needs

  • Design and implement efficient programming solutions to meet project requirements

  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and compliance of all programming deliverables

  • Collaborate with statisticians, data managers, and other stakeholders

  • Conduct code reviews and provide constructive feedback

  • Troubleshoot and resolve programming issues

  • Mentor, train, and support junior programmers

  • Stay current with industry trends, programming techniques, and regulatory requirements


Qualifications

  • Education: Advanced degree in Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field

  • Experience: Extensive statistical programming experience in clinical trials or pharmaceutical/biotech industry

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in SAS, R, or Python

    • Strong knowledge of statistical methods and data analysis techniques

  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

    • Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams


Certifications (Preferred)

  • SAS Certified Advanced Programmer for SAS 9, or equivalent certification


Necessary Skills

  • Expertise in statistical programming and data analysis

  • Strong grasp of statistical methodologies

  • Ability to design, implement, and review programming solutions

  • Effective communication across technical and non-technical teams


Impact & Contribution (P23 Level)

  • Manage or contribute to projects spanning multiple areas

  • Direct the work of lower-level programmers

  • Develop, implement, and optimize processes, programs, and policies

  • Serve as a recognized expert and resource within the statistical programming discipline
