JOB OVERVIEW

The Principal Medical Affairs Specialist is responsible for leading evidence-based medical affairs strategies, providing scientific and clinical expertise, supporting product development and commercialization, and building strong relationships with healthcare professionals, key opinion leaders (KOLs), and regulatory stakeholders. The role involves driving medical education, scientific communication, competitive intelligence, medical strategy execution, cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring the safe and effective use of Medtronic products across healthcare settings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Medical Affairs Strategy

  • Develop and implement integrated medical affairs strategies.

  • Drive evidence-based medical initiatives across assigned therapeutic areas.

  • Support product lifecycle management and commercialization.

  • Align medical strategies with organizational business objectives.

  • Contribute to strategic planning and portfolio development.

Scientific & Clinical Expertise

  • Provide scientific and clinical expertise for Medtronic products.

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of clinical evidence and product science.

  • Evaluate emerging clinical data and scientific literature.

  • Develop competitive intelligence within the therapeutic area.

  • Support scientific decision-making across business functions.

Medical Education & Scientific Communication

  • Conduct medical education programs, workshops, and scientific seminars.

  • Deliver product-related scientific presentations to healthcare professionals.

  • Promote the safe and effective use of medical technologies.

  • Respond to unsolicited medical and scientific inquiries.

  • Develop evidence-based medical communication materials.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, medical societies, and institutions.

  • Engage with government agencies and healthcare organizations.

  • Support scientific collaborations and partnership initiatives.

  • Provide medical support to investigators and clinical stakeholders.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Clinical, R&D, Marketing, Commercial, and Business Development teams.

  • Provide medical input for product development and commercialization.

  • Support product launch strategies and field medical activities.

  • Collaborate with Global Strategy and Portfolio Management teams.

  • Assist in evaluating new technologies and clinical opportunities.

Leadership & Medical Excellence

  • Mentor junior Medical Affairs professionals.

  • Lead medical projects and strategic initiatives.

  • Drive continuous improvement within Medical Affairs operations.

  • Promote evidence-based clinical practices.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, company policies, and ethical standards.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Required

One of the following professional degrees:

  • MBBS

  • MD

  • DM

  • BDS

  • MDS

Preferred

  • Advanced medical specialization in a relevant therapeutic area.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Required

  • Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree.

OR

  • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience with an advanced medical degree.

Preferred

  • Medical Affairs experience in the medical device or healthcare industry.

  • Scientific communication and medical education experience.

  • Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagement.

  • Product launch and lifecycle management.

  • Cross-functional leadership experience.

  • Clinical research or evidence generation experience.
