🎯 Job Summary
The Principal Engineer, Data will be part of Baxter’s Digital Team for Infusion Pumps.
You will design, develop, and deploy scalable and reliable data pipelines that support AI/ML-based clinical systems for infusion therapy.
Your work will directly impact data accuracy, product reliability, and patient safety.
⚙️ Key Responsibilities
1. Data Pipeline Design & Development
Design and build scalable, reliable data pipelines to collect, process, and store large volumes of infusion therapy data.
Collaborate with data scientists, clinicians, and engineers to align pipelines with data requirements.
Ensure pipeline compliance with regulatory standards, including:
FDA Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) guidelines
CE marking requirements
ISO 13485:2016
2. Data Architecture & Storage
Develop and implement data architectures to support AI/ML model development and deployment.
Select and manage appropriate storage systems, such as:
Relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL)
NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)
Data warehouses (e.g., Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery)
Optimize data for performance through indexing, partitioning, and tuning.
3. Data Processing & ETL
Create and deploy data processing workflows for transforming and loading datasets.
Implement ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines from multiple sources to target systems.
Ensure data validation, cleaning, and formatting to meet AI/ML requirements.
4. Data Security & Compliance
Maintain data security, integrity, and privacy through:
Data encryption
Access control mechanisms
Backup and disaster recovery systems
Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure full adherence to SaMD and ISO standards.
5. Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with cross-functional teams—data scientists, clinicians, and product managers—to align technical work with business goals.
Communicate complex technical information clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
Participate in cross-functional planning to ensure timely and compliant project delivery.
🎓 Education & Experience
Experience: 10–15 years in data engineering, software development, or related domains.
