Position Overview

Syneos Health seeks a Principal Clinical Research Scientist to provide scientific leadership and strategic guidance for early-phase clinical research studies. This role involves working with interdisciplinary teams and clients to design, implement, and oversee complex clinical study protocols while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific and Regulatory Leadership

  • Serve as a scientific consultant to clients and internal teams.

  • Design and develop complex study protocols, synopses, and related quality control documents.

  • Ensure study designs meet objectives and maintain subject safety standards.

  • Provide input and review for clinical study documents such as Statistical Analysis Plans (SAP) and Clinical Study Reports.

  • Conduct regulatory monitoring and maintain scientific databases to support team operations.

Operational Excellence

  • Oversee and ensure the quality of deliverables throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Address and integrate feedback from clients, internal teams, ethics committees, and regulatory agencies.

  • Support preparation and submission of clinical trial applications to regulatory authorities like Health Canada.

Client Engagement and Business Development

  • Participate in bid defense meetings to secure new projects.

  • Build and nurture relationships with clients to foster long-term partnerships and future opportunities.

Team Development

  • Train and mentor junior staff, fostering professional growth.

  • Facilitate team training programs aligned with project, regulatory, and organizational needs.

  • Line-manage team members as required.


Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree (or equivalent) in Life Sciences.

  • Extensive knowledge of ICH/GCP guidelines, regulatory requirements, and drug development processes.

  • Experience in a Clinical Research Organization (CRO) environment is preferred.

Skills

  • Strong time management and independent work capabilities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat) and adaptability to new technologies.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to persuade and influence stakeholders.

  • Flexibility and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment.

  • Commitment to mentoring and managing staff effectively.

  • Annual Base Salary Range: $85,500–$175,700 (varies based on qualifications and experience).
