Job Title: Hospital SI Pharmaceutical Sciences Team Lead (PSTL)

What You Will Achieve

As the Hospital SI Pharmaceutical Sciences Team Lead (PSTL), you will lead cross-functional teams to develop innovative medicines for patients, focusing on advancing dosage forms, devices, and combination drug/device platforms. This role involves leading the technical and operational strategies for post-LOE (Loss of Exclusivity) and generic programs within the Hospital Business Unit.

You will be accountable for driving the delivery of projects related to internal and in-licensed medicines. Your leadership will be key to executing strategy, ensuring project timelines, quality, and budget are met. This includes managing risk, coordinating teams, and influencing stakeholders both inside and outside of Pfizer.


Role Responsibilities

Project Execution and Delivery

  • Lead and mentor interdisciplinary teams (PSPTs and CDTs), ensuring successful strategy development and execution.
  • Serve as the single point of accountability for Pharmaceutical Sciences on pipeline projects, ensuring projects are completed on time, on budget, and within scope.
  • Work with internal stakeholders (e.g., PRD, Commercial, Clinical, PGS) and external partners to define product concepts and drive operational planning.
  • Represent Pharmaceutical Sciences at governance meetings and engage with other stakeholders to align on strategy, deliverables, and risks.
  • Oversee project budgets and resource forecasts, ensuring efficient resource management.

Risk Analysis and Management

  • Lead risk management efforts, including identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks to ensure project success.
  • Work with teams to identify alternatives and make informed decisions that align with project goals.

Strategy Thinking and Problem Solving

  • Lead the development and assessment of strategic options, including decision criteria and communication strategies.
  • Provide inputs to asset valuation, prioritization, and the internal/external communication process.

Planning and Organization

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including budgets, schedules, and timelines.
  • Lead the creation of the program's critical technical path and ensure all teams understand the strategy and milestones.

Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with Pfizer policies, industry standards, and local regulations.
  • Embody quality standards for all deliverables.

Communication Skills

  • Ensure accurate, timely communication of project information to all stakeholders.
  • Represent the Pharmaceutical Sciences team in key meetings, reviews, and stakeholder discussions.

Influence and Motivation

  • Utilize leadership, negotiation, and facilitation skills to enhance team performance.
  • Help new team members get up to speed and ensure all team members have the necessary resources to succeed.

Qualifications

Must-Have

  • Education:
    • BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, or a related field plus an MBA (16 years of experience in drug development).
    • OR MS in a related discipline with 14 years of experience in drug development.
  • Demonstrated success in leading scientific teams and managing large, complex projects.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and forecasting abilities, with experience in using IT tools for project management.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of the drug development process and cross-disciplinary expertise.
  • Proven leadership in managing risk and solving complex problems independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering, Pharmacy, Chemical Engineering, or related field with 12 years of experience.
  • Experience with combination products and design controls.
  • Leadership experience with an ability to influence, mentor, and develop other team members.

Physical/Mental Requirements

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a matrixed environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and navigate ambiguity effectively.

Non-Standard Work Schedule, Travel, or Environment Requirements

  • 3-5 domestic trips per year to attend meetings.

Salary:

  • Base salary ranges from $149,200 to $248,600 annually, based on experience and location.
  • Eligible for the Global Performance Plan bonus target of 20% of base salary, plus participation in the long-term incentive program.
  • Benefits include 401(k) with Pfizer matching contributions, medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, caregiver leave, and more.
