About the Role

athenahealth is hiring an Operations Analyst to support Accounts Receivable (AR) Calling and Denial Management operations within the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) function. The role involves managing day-to-day AR follow-up activities, resolving denial cases, maintaining operational accuracy, and supporting continuous process improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

AR Calling & Follow-Up

  • Conduct AR calling activities for timely patient and payer follow-up.

  • Manage outstanding accounts and ensure timely resolution.

  • Follow established workflow standards and operational guidelines.

  • Maintain accurate records of all follow-up activities.

Denial Management

  • Review and analyze denial cases to identify denial causes.

  • Ensure appropriate actions are taken to resolve denied claims.

  • Coordinate with internal teams to address denial-related issues.

  • Monitor denial trends and recommend corrective actions.

RCM Operations & Documentation

  • Review RCM documentation and transaction details for accuracy and completeness.

  • Update operational systems with accurate statuses, notes, and outcomes.

  • Maintain audit-ready documentation and compliance records.

  • Ensure adherence to SOPs and operational policies.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Analyze trends in AR calling and denial workflows.

  • Prepare daily and weekly activity reports.

  • Identify recurring operational issues and improvement opportunities.

  • Provide updates on progress, challenges, and resolution status.

Process Improvement & Collaboration

  • Participate in workflow optimization initiatives.

  • Support knowledge base updates and documentation improvements.

  • Assist with training and mentoring activities when required.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects across RCM operations.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in:

    • Life Sciences

    • Pharmacy

    • Healthcare Administration

    • Business Administration

    • Commerce

    • Related Discipline

Experience

  • 2–4 years of experience in:

    • Healthcare Operations

    • Revenue Cycle Management (RCM)

    • Accounts Receivable (AR) Calling

    • Claims Processing

    • Denial Management

  • Experience working with healthcare operational workflows preferred.
