Position Overview:

The MSL will be responsible for engaging with external leaders to exchange medical and scientific information, gaining insights into therapeutic areas, and supporting the company's regional medical affairs strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

Engagement with External Leaders:

  • Peer-to-peer communication: Engage with SLs and KDMs in a non-promotional manner, sharing medical and scientific information.
  • Insights gathering: Gain insights into disease states, therapeutic areas, healthcare needs, data gaps, and challenges in the local geography.
  • Event representation: Represent Medical Affairs at local or regional non-promotional medical events, such as medical congresses and symposia.
  • Information response: Respond to unsolicited inquiries for medical, scientific, or product-related information from SLs or KDMs.
  • Medical exchange activities: Organize and participate in activities like hospital lectures, journal clubs, expert forums, and advisory boards. This may include presenting at such events.
  • Health Technology Assessments: Provide medical/scientific support for Health Technology Assessments and formulary decisions.

Internal Support:

  • Medical Affairs Plans: Contribute to and help implement regional medical affairs plans.
  • Clinical trials support: Help identify potential study investigators for sponsored studies.
  • Insights to strategy: Provide insights from scientific exchanges to inform development programs, company strategy, and areas of interest.
  • Training: Support commercial teams with on-label or disease-state scientific training.
  • Patient access program: Provide scientific support as needed.

Collaboration and Knowledge Transfer:

  • Collaborate with Medical Advisors, other MSLs, and cross-functional teams within the therapeutic area (TA) and across TAs.
  • Share knowledge and best practices from External Leaders (E.L.) and TA colleagues.

Competencies:

  • Scientific knowledge: Strong baseline knowledge in the assigned therapeutic area and clinical trial methods, including data interpretation.
  • Communication: Excellent skills in presenting scientific information, active listening, and probing to engage effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work well within a team and across functions.
  • Strategic thinking: Ability to align with and contribute to the broader organizational strategy.
  • Project management: Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously while working under pressure.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Education: College degree in pharmacy or a related field.
  • Experience: Relevant pharmaceutical experience, including knowledge of the therapeutic area.
  • Skills: Leadership and cross-functional alignment, strategic thinking, project management, and fluency in English.
