This job description outlines the role of a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) based in the Great South of France, within the contraception and obstetrics therapeutic area. The MSL is responsible for engaging with scientific leaders (SLs) and key decision makers (KDMs) in a non-promotional capacity to exchange medical and scientific information. Here's a breakdown of the key components of the position:

Key Responsibilities:

  1. External Engagement:

    • Engage with SLs and KDMs to exchange medical information in line with local laws and industry regulations.
    • Gain insights into local disease areas, therapeutic needs, and healthcare challenges.
    • Represent Medical Affairs at regional scientific events like congresses and symposia.
    • Respond to unsolicited requests for scientific and medical product information.
    • Support scientific exchange activities such as hospital lectures, journal clubs, and advisory boards.
  2. Internal Support:

    • Formulate regional Medical Affairs plans and implement them.
    • Identify potential study investigators for sponsored studies.
    • Provide insights on scientific gaps and support the company’s strategy.
    • Assist in training commercial teams with scientific information on disease states or products.
  3. Medical Support:

    • Provide medical/scientific input for Health Technology Assessments (HTA) and formulary decisions.
    • Provide scientific support to patient access programs and commercial teams as needed.

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Scientific Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge in the therapeutic area, clinical trials, and data interpretation.
  • Effective Communication: Ability to confidently present complex scientific information to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Strong collaboration skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Scientific Exchange: Capability to engage in peer-to-peer scientific exchange and provide actionable insights.
  • Research Support: Ability to support research initiatives and contribute to the scientific knowledge base.

Qualifications:

  • Background in a related scientific or medical discipline.
  • Experience in medical affairs, scientific exchange, or clinical research is beneficial.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in a peer-to-peer context.
