Position Summary

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Neuro-Oncology serves as a scientific expert within the U.S. Medical Affairs team. This field-based role is responsible for building strong scientific relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), facilitating scientific exchange, supporting clinical research, and contributing to medical strategy execution.

Candidates with senior-level experience may also be considered for an advanced requisition based on business needs.


Key Responsibilities

1. KOL Engagement and Scientific Exchange

  • Build and maintain peer-to-peer scientific relationships with KOLs, investigators, and healthcare professionals.

  • Deliver accurate, balanced scientific information across oncology and neuro-oncology specialties.

  • Develop and execute territory plans aligned with U.S. Medical Affairs goals.

  • Provide scientific support at investigator meetings, national conferences, advisory boards, and regional programs.

  • Communicate clinical insights and field intelligence with internal stakeholders.

2. Scientific Expertise and Disease Knowledge

  • Maintain deep expertise in neuro-oncology, oncology therapeutics, emerging research, and competitive landscape.

  • Represent Jazz as a credible and ethical scientific expert.

  • Respond to unsolicited inquiries and deliver clinical presentations in academic and community settings.

3. Medical Affairs Strategy and Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Contribute to the development and execution of the U.S. Medical Plan.

  • Collaborate with Clinical Development, Market Access, and Commercial teams while maintaining scientific integrity.

  • Support clinical trial site engagement, data generation initiatives, and investigator-sponsored studies.

4. Compliance, Ethics, and Reporting

  • Uphold Jazz values and comply with national and local Codes of Practice.

  • Report adverse events and product complaints per company requirements.

  • Maintain detailed and timely documentation, reporting, and personal development planning.


Required Skills and Qualifications

Preferred Expertise

  • Experience supporting oncology or neuro-oncology product launches.

  • Background in managing multiple therapeutic areas simultaneously.

  • Proven clinical trial support and experience driving trial recruitment.

  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks related to field medical operations.


Education and Experience Requirements

Required

  • Advanced Degree (PharmD, MD, PhD or equivalent) with minimum 3 years of experience in Oncology or Rare Diseases.
    OR

  • Licensed clinician (RN, NP, CNP, PA) with a Master’s degree and minimum 5 years of clinical experience in Oncology or Rare Diseases.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an MSL or similar scientific/clinical industry role.

  • Ability to travel 60–70% across the region.

  • Must reside within 60 miles of a major airport.

  • Valid driver’s license.

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience in neuro-oncology.

  • Demonstrated success as an MSL with a strong engagement track record.


Physical and Work Environment Requirements

  • Frequent travel to meetings, conferences, and clinical sites.

  • Regular use of laptops, tablets, and digital communication tools.

  • Interaction with external stakeholders in clinical, academic, and conference environments.

  • Occasional need to work outside standard hours to meet business needs.

  • Professional attire required for public-facing engagements.


Compensation and Benefits (U.S. Only)

Base Salary Range:
USD 154,400 – 231,600
Compensation depends on experience, qualifications, and internal equity.

Additional Components:

  • Annual performance-based bonus or incentive plan eligibility.

  • Long-term equity incentives.
