Position Overview

EMD Serono is seeking a highly skilled Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Fertility to support the West U.S. territory. This field-based role is pivotal within the Medical Affairs team, bridging external scientific engagement with internal strategic insights. The MSL will act as a subject matter expert in reproductive medicine, building strong, collaborative relationships with healthcare professionals, academic thought leaders, and clinical influencers to advance company initiatives and therapeutic awareness.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Leadership & Education

  • Deliver comprehensive scientific, clinical, and educational support to healthcare leaders and decision-makers in fertility.

  • Share state-of-the-art research and medical knowledge through one-to-one interactions, presentations, and group learning activities.

  • Serve as an internal resource, translating field insights into actionable recommendations for Medical Affairs and cross-functional teams.

Relationship Development & Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and academic peers to provide strategic guidance on fertility treatments and therapeutic trends.

  • Act as liaison for Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS), coordinating with investigators and Medical Affairs.

  • Represent EMD Serono at regional, national, and international medical meetings, conferences, and events.

Strategic & Operational Support

  • Lead regional Medical Affairs initiatives in alignment with national objectives.

  • Communicate field insights, research updates, and competitive intelligence to internal stakeholders.

  • Maintain accurate HCP and institutional profiling and visitation records.

  • Manage regional budgets and ensure all activities comply with regulatory and company standards.

Travel Requirements

  • Extensive travel (up to 80%) including overnight trips, national meetings, and occasional international conferences.


Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications

  • PharmD, PhD, MD, DO with 2+ years of relevant clinical, medical affairs, or pharmaceutical experience
    OR
    NP/PA with 3+ years of relevant clinical or pharmaceutical experience.

  • Strong expertise in reproductive medicine and fertility treatments.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to convey complex scientific information to diverse audiences.

  • Demonstrated relationship-building and networking capabilities.

  • Must reside within or be willing to relocate to the West Region territory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of clinical and/or pharmaceutical experience in Fertility (required for Senior MSL).

  • Previous experience as a field MSL or equivalent (e.g., nurse clinical liaison).

  • Proven ability to mentor peers, influence stakeholders, and drive strategic outcomes.

  • Ethical, proactive, adaptable, and committed to innovation and patient-centered approaches.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: USD 157,100 – 235,700 (determined by location, experience, and qualifications)

  • Eligible for performance-based or sales incentives
