Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Fertility | North Central Region

Position Overview

EMD Serono is seeking a dedicated Medical Science Liaison (MSL) – Fertility for the North Central U.S. territory. This field-based role is a vital part of the Medical Affairs team, connecting external scientific engagement with internal strategic insights. The MSL will act as a subject matter expert in reproductive medicine and fertility, building strong relationships with healthcare professionals, thought leaders, and academic partners to advance company initiatives and therapeutic awareness.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Leadership & Education

  • Provide in-depth scientific, clinical, and educational support to academic thought leaders and community healthcare decision-makers.

  • Disseminate the latest research and medical insights related to fertility and reproductive medicine through one-to-one interactions and group learning activities.

  • Serve as a trusted scientific resource for internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and clinical influencers.

  • Act as a liaison between investigators and Medical Affairs for Investigator Sponsored Studies (ISS).

  • Represent EMD Serono at regional, national, and international medical conferences, meetings, and educational events.

Operational & Strategic Support

  • Lead regional Medical Affairs initiatives, aligning with national strategies and objectives.

  • Communicate field insights, research updates, and competitive intelligence to internal teams.

  • Maintain HCP and institutional profiling, visitation records, and manage budget allocations.

  • Ensure all field activities comply with regulatory and company standards.

Travel Requirements

  • Extensive regional travel (up to 80%), including overnight trips, national meetings, and occasional international conferences.


Candidate Profile

Minimum Qualifications

  • PharmD, PhD, MD, DO with 2+ years of relevant clinical or medical affairs experience
    OR
    NP/PA with 3+ years of relevant clinical or pharmaceutical experience.

  • Strong knowledge of reproductive medicine and fertility treatments.

  • Proven ability to communicate complex scientific and clinical information to diverse audiences.

  • Strong relationship-building, networking, and collaboration skills.

  • Reside within or willing to relocate to the North Central U.S. territory.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of clinical and/or pharmaceutical experience in Fertility (required for Senior MSL).

  • Prior experience as a field MSL or equivalent (e.g., nurse clinical liaison).

  • Demonstrated ability to foster collaboration, mentor peers, and drive strategic outcomes.

  • Ethical, proactive, and adaptable, with the ability to embrace innovation and challenge the status quo.


Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary Range: USD 157,100 – 235,700 (based on location, experience, and qualifications)

  • Eligible for performance-based or sales incentives
