Position Overview

Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC) is seeking an experienced Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for the MN/WI region. This remote-based role serves as the scientific and medical voice for ADC products and therapeutic areas, providing expert guidance to healthcare providers, thought leaders, and external stakeholders.

The MSL will ensure scientific credibility, deliver evidence-based medical education, and support collaborative research and publications. This role will also interface with Abbott’s U.S. commercial teams to provide medical affairs support while maintaining functional independence.


Key Responsibilities

Scientific & Medical Leadership

  • Develop and maintain professional, credible relationships with Tier 1 and Tier 2 thought leaders and external experts in the region.

  • Facilitate research, educational initiatives, and scientific exchange to ensure ADC’s medical and scientific presence in key academic centers.

  • Provide scientific and technical guidance for publications, clinical presentations, and advisory boards.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including commercial, clinical, and regulatory teams, while maintaining functional autonomy.

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for thought leaders requiring scientific knowledge or guidance on ADC products.

  • Support strategic initiatives by summarizing key clinical and scientific data relevant to ADC products.

Professional Development & Industry Engagement

  • Deliver credible presentations at scientific meetings, conferences, and advisory sessions.

  • Identify and engage appropriate thought leaders for collaborative activities, including advisory boards, congresses, and symposia.

  • Attend national and regional scientific meetings, representing Abbott’s medical affairs and supporting medical education.

Compliance & Regulatory Adherence

  • Ensure all MSL activities comply with local, national, and corporate regulations, codes of conduct, and Abbott policies.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of therapeutic areas, products, and relevant scientific literature.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences or related field.

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a health sciences field, medical affairs, or clinical liaison role.

  • Strong scientific knowledge and ability to communicate complex clinical data effectively.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence thought leaders and cross-functional teams.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree (PharmD, PhD, MS, Nursing, or related scientific discipline) preferred.

  • Previous experience as an MSL or in a similar medical affairs role.

  • Knowledge of diabetes care, glucose monitoring technologies, and cardiovascular/therapeutic areas is an advantage.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment and travel as required.
