Job Overview

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is a field-based scientific expert responsible for building and maintaining high-quality, non-promotional scientific engagement with healthcare professionals and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) within assigned therapeutic areas. Based in Beijing, this role supports evidence-based scientific exchange, insight generation, and cross-functional collaboration in alignment with company strategy and compliance standards.

This position is ideal for medical affairs professionals with strong therapeutic expertise, excellent communication skills, and experience in scientific exchange within regulated pharmaceutical environments.


Key Responsibilities

KOL Identification & Management

  • Identify, map, segment, and manage Key Opinion Leaders within defined therapeutic areas and assigned cities.

  • Develop scientifically credible, peer-to-peer relationships with KOLs through compliant scientific exchange and value-driven medical initiatives.

  • Identify, develop, and support national-level scientific speakers and experts.

Scientific Exchange & Medical Events

  • Deliver balanced, accurate, and up-to-date scientific data to healthcare professionals in both one-on-one and group settings.

  • Lead and support medical-initiated events, scientific exchange meetings, and educational forums in accordance with company policies, local regulations, and ethical standards.

Medical Information & Inquiries

  • Respond appropriately to unsolicited medical and scientific inquiries from healthcare professionals.

  • Ensure accurate documentation and compliant dissemination of approved scientific data for marketed products and products in development.

Medical Insights & Field Intelligence

  • Develop and maintain relationships with external scientific experts to gather insights on treatment patterns, unmet medical needs, and evolving scientific activities within the therapeutic area.

  • Capture and communicate high-quality medical insights to internal stakeholders to inform strategy and decision-making.

Sales Training & Cross-Functional Support

  • Provide advanced scientific training to sales teams, aligned with medical meetings and field visits, while maintaining non-promotional boundaries.

  • Identify and develop qualified speakers for promotional programs and support speaker training initiatives in compliance with guidelines.

Knowledge Management

  • Maintain in-depth expertise in assigned products, clinical practice guidelines, clinical trials, and emerging scientific data.

  • Continuously update therapeutic area knowledge to ensure high-quality scientific engagement.


Education & Qualifications

  • Degree in Medicine, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or a related scientific discipline

  • Advanced scientific or clinical qualifications are preferred


Experience Requirements

  • 2 to 6 years of experience in Medical Affairs, Medical Science Liaison, Clinical Research, or a related pharmaceutical role

  • Experience in field-based scientific exchange and KOL engagement is highly desirable
