Role Summary

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) serves as a scientific and medical expert representing Bristol Myers Squibb in the Haematology & Oncology therapeutic area.

The role focuses on developing trusted scientific relationships with healthcare professionals, thought leaders, and key healthcare stakeholders while supporting the appropriate use of BMS therapies through evidence-based scientific exchange.

This is a highly field-oriented role, with approximately 60–70% of time spent engaging external stakeholders.


Key Responsibilities

External Scientific Engagement

  • Develop and maintain relationships with:

    • Thought Leaders (TLs)

    • Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs)

    • Healthcare Professionals (HCPs)

    • Access stakeholders

  • Conduct scientific discussions through:

    • One-to-one meetings

    • Group presentations

    • Virtual engagements

  • Address unsolicited scientific and product-related questions.

  • Communicate clinical and HEOR (Health Economics & Outcomes Research) data in a balanced and compliant manner.


Territory & Account Planning

  • Develop territory-specific Field Medical Plans.

  • Create stakeholder engagement plans aligned with:

    • Medical strategy

    • Therapeutic area priorities

    • Local healthcare needs

  • Execute medical activities supporting country medical objectives.

  • Support key institutional accounts including:

    • Army healthcare systems

    • Railways

    • CGHS

    • Other strategic healthcare institutions


Scientific Expertise & Medical Insights

  • Maintain deep expertise in:

    • Haematology

    • Oncology

    • Disease management

    • Clinical trials

    • Competitive landscape

  • Continuously assess unmet medical needs and emerging scientific evidence.

  • Gather actionable medical insights from stakeholders.

  • Share insights with Medical Affairs and Commercial teams to support strategic decision-making.


Medical Plan Execution

  • Contribute to development and implementation of local medical plans.

  • Support scientifically meaningful projects and medical initiatives.

  • Participate in cross-functional institution and account planning activities.

  • Ensure alignment between field insights and organizational strategy.


Internal Scientific Support

  • Support training and education of internal stakeholders including:

    • Commercial teams

    • Regulatory Affairs

    • Pharmacovigilance

    • Market Access

    • Legal teams

  • Deliver scientific updates and therapeutic area education.

  • Provide medical expertise during scientific and promotional meetings when appropriate.


Compliance & Pharmacovigilance

  • Report adverse events and safety information according to company SOPs.

  • Ensure all activities comply with:

    • Company policies

    • Ethical standards

    • Regulatory requirements

    • Medical governance processes
