Position Summary

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) for the Arizona and Utah regions serves as the lead medical and scientific expert for Abbott Diabetes Care (ADC). This field-based position focuses on comprehensive scientific engagement, strengthening ADC’s presence among key healthcare stakeholders, and supporting medical and scientific exchanges across the diabetes care landscape.

The MSL provides authoritative scientific guidance, supports the U.S. commercial team, engages thought leaders, and ensures strategic alignment of scientific communications and clinical insights.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Engagement & Leadership

  • Build and maintain strong, credible relationships with regional and national thought leaders and external experts.

  • Act as ADC’s scientific representative across academic centers, medical institutions, and clinical networks.

  • Support scientific exchange initiatives by providing evidence-based information and responding to unsolicited medical inquiries.

Medical Education & Knowledge Dissemination

  • Deliver high-quality scientific presentations to healthcare providers in individual or group settings.

  • Support educational collaborations, advisory boards, symposia, and congress activities with a focus on scientific integrity.

  • Provide scientific and technical support to key opinion leaders (KOLs) for peer-reviewed publications.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with commercial, medical, and clinical teams while maintaining scientific independence.

  • Partner with internal teams to summarize and communicate insights from scientific meetings and conferences.

  • Contribute to strategic planning and development of initiatives aligned with ADC’s medical and scientific priorities.

Compliance & Best Practices

  • Ensure all interactions comply with local, state, and national laws, industry regulations, and company standards.

  • Uphold ethical scientific communication and maintain current knowledge of ADC products and therapeutic areas.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health sciences field is required.

  • Preferred: Advanced degree such as PharmD, MD/DO, NP/DNP, PA, or PhD in a relevant scientific discipline.

  • Candidates with a bachelor’s degree and strong related experience may also be considered.

Licensure / Certification

  • Current clinical licensure and board certification required (e.g., Nurse Practitioner, Physician Associate, Pharmacist).

  • Credentials must align with applicable state or national regulations and be maintained throughout employment.

Experience

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in a health sciences or clinical field.

  • Demonstrated expertise engaging healthcare professionals, interpreting scientific literature, and supporting medical communications.

  • Prior experience in diabetes, medical devices, or clinical research is advantageous.

Compensation

Base salary range: $111,300 – $222,700
