Role Overview

The Medical Monitor / Medical Director – Dermatologist provides medical oversight for dermatology clinical trials, serving as the primary medical contact for sponsors, study teams, and clinical sites. This role ensures subject safety, protocol compliance, and scientific integrity throughout the clinical study lifecycle.

Key responsibilities include protocol design input, feasibility evaluations, medical monitoring, therapeutic training, and oversight of data collection and analysis, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.


Key Responsibilities

Clinical Oversight & Therapeutic Input

  • Provide medical monitoring for dermatology studies as the primary contact for sponsors and study teams.

  • Review and contribute to protocol design, amendments, and study start-up materials.

  • Deliver project-specific and therapeutic training to study teams, site staff, and sponsor personnel.

  • Support site feasibility assessments, subject identification, and review of informed consent materials.

Data & Safety Management

  • Oversee Medical Scientist staff and colleagues in clinical data review, identifying trends, safety signals, and risks.

  • Provide after-hours medical coverage for clinical trials as required.

  • Ensure compliance with FDA regulations, ICH GCP guidelines, and company SOPs.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Engage with internal teams, sponsors, and stakeholders to address study requirements and resolve medical or operational issues.

  • Support RFP and BDM responses as needed.

  • Represent the company at scientific meetings or conferences when requested.


Required Qualifications

  • Medical degree with board certification or specialization in Dermatology.

  • Proven experience in clinical research, medical monitoring, or clinical development oversight.

  • Knowledge of drug development processes, clinical trial design, and regulatory compliance.

  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high-quality results.

Travel: Minimal, as required for business or audit meetings.
