Medical Liaison – Obesity (San Francisco, CA)

Job Summary

Novo Nordisk is seeking a highly qualified Medical Liaison - Obesity to join its Field Medical Affairs team in San Francisco, California. This role is pivotal in building scientific partnerships with healthcare providers (HCPs), delivering education on key products, and providing critical medical insights. Ideal candidates will have a doctorate degree and deep expertise in diabetes, obesity management, or clinical research.


Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with KOLs, HCPs, and academic institutions.

  • Deliver scientific presentations and HEOR value propositions to stakeholders.

  • Educate healthcare professionals on Novo Nordisk products via workshops, forums, and scientific discussions.

  • Identify and coordinate clinical trial sites and support study execution.

  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, and Government Affairs teams for field-based clinical education.

  • Manage medical territory plans and provide detailed monthly activity reports.

  • Record customer interactions and expenses accurately in company systems (VEEVA, Concur).

  • Support formulary decision-making processes within integrated healthcare networks (IHNs).

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal SOPs.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, PharmD, MD) mandatory.

  • Minimum 2 years in healthcare, pharmaceutical, or managed care settings.

  • Strong knowledge and/or clinical experience in diabetes and obesity therapeutic areas.

  • Ability to communicate complex scientific data effectively.

  • Demonstrated business acumen in formulary or healthcare decision-making processes.

  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.

  • Willingness to travel overnight (50–75% required).

  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

    • Senior Medical Liaison: $198,000 – $245,000
