The Position: Medical Editor

As a Medical Editor, you will collaborate closely with Senior Editors and Group Editorial Supervisors to ensure the accuracy and quality of all projects. Your role will involve quality control and fact-checking content for the EVERSANA Deployment Solutions Business Unit. You should be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team, serving as a backup editor for various clients and brands.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support internal editorial teams in copy editing, proofreading, and fact-checking a range of materials, including marketing and advertising content, proposals, product information, sales training materials, and medical education resources.
  • Incorporate editorial comments and changes in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and our internal markup programs.
  • Ensure adherence to grammar, spelling, and style guidelines, particularly the American Medical Association (AMA) style.
  • Thoroughly fact-check references and resolve any discrepancies in collaboration with other Medical Editors and Copywriters.
  • Uphold the four pillars of editorial quality: structure and story flow, consistency and clarity, accuracy of language, and formatting.
  • Maintain consistency in style, tone, and focus across brand-specific projects.
  • Enforce compliance with company editorial policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Direct queries to project managers, writers, and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of complex scholarly and technical material, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Manage multiple complex projects efficiently while maintaining high quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively within the team and take on additional duties as assigned by the Editorial Services management team.
  • Coordinate editing schedules for projects originating from ex-US offices and conduct onboarding sessions for new team members.
  • Redact sensitive company documents and sales materials for business development purposes.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • 8 to 12 years of industry experience, with at least 2 years in medical copy editing, particularly in biology and medical policy content.
  • Proficiency in American Medical Association (AMA) style is mandatory.
  • Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, and PowerPoint. Training will be provided for electronic editing processes.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology is essential, along with strong command of the English language, including grammar rules and the ability to correct common errors made by ESL writers.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) or higher in English, Journalism, Creative Writing, Linguistics, or a related field, or relevant work experience.
