Medical Director
Location: Covington, KY, USA
Position Type: Full-time, Exempt
Compensation: $400,000 per year + Medical Director Stipend

About the Role:
As a Medical Director at Theoria Medical, you will oversee skilled nursing facilities (SNF) and lead administrative and quality initiatives across the facilities under your care. This position involves serving as the attending physician for SNF residents, providing primary care services, and supervising a team of Nurse Practitioners (NPs) and Physician Assistants (PAs). You will ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, guide facility staff, and review/revise clinical guidelines to maintain high standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead quality assurance and process improvement meetings at SNFs.
  • Provide guidance to facility staff, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Supervise facility clinical staff, including Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic conditions, including infections, hypertension, heart disease, and diabetes.
  • Perform rounding on patients, offering patient-centered, comprehensive care.
  • Complete documentation via Theoria’s proprietary electronic health record (EHR) system (ChartEasy).
  • Participate in Chronic Care Management, Transitional Care, RPM, and other medical initiatives.
  • Supervise and collaborate with Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
  • Engage in administrative tasks, including death certificate documentation and other state/county medical systems.

Shift Structure:

  • Flexible shifts based on your schedule.
  • Typically, 2-3 days per week at each facility.
  • Rounding times are flexible, starting between 7-10 a.m. and finishing once your caseload is seen.
  • No nights, weekends, or on-call duties (call is handled by Theoria’s virtual care team).

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO with board certification (or board eligibility) in an appropriate specialty.
  • Previous experience in skilled nursing facilities or related care settings is a plus.
  • Ability to supervise and collaborate with Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems and other online medical tools.
