Medical Director (Oncology) – Remote | ICON plc | East Coast US

Job Summary

ICON plc is hiring a Medical Director (Oncology) for a fully remote position based on the East Coast, USA. Join a global leader in healthcare intelligence and clinical research to shape the future of clinical development. In this strategic role, you will provide expert leadership and guidance in oncology across clinical project teams, contribute to business development, and ensure compliance with medical and regulatory standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic medical leadership and expert guidance across project teams.

  • Act as the key oncology subject matter expert for project lifecycles.

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory and ethical standards in all medical/safety monitoring activities.

  • Represent the Medical Affairs Department in business development and client-facing initiatives.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with clinical, regulatory, and operational stakeholders.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Medical Degree (MD or equivalent) with specialization in Oncology or Hematology.

  • Board Certified in Oncology or Hematology.

  • Prior clinical practice as an Adult Oncologist or Hematologist.

  • Minimum 2 years of clinical research experience in Academia, Pharmaceutical, Biotech, or CRO sectors.

  • Strong understanding of GCP, ICH, and regulatory guidelines.

  • Proven leadership and communication skills in a cross-functional environment.

  • Familiarity with safety monitoring and compliance requirements.
