Position Overview: Medical Director, Hematology

The Medical Director, Hematology will lead strategic medical initiatives, clinical programs, and scientific engagement activities for Abbott’s Hematology portfolio. This executive-level role ensures scientific excellence, drives innovation, and strengthens Abbott’s leadership in hematology diagnostics and technologies.

The Director will collaborate closely with R&D, Regulatory Affairs, Commercial teams, Market Access, and global external stakeholders to enable evidence-based decision-making and long-term portfolio growth.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the global medical strategy for Abbott’s Hematology systems.

  • Lead clinical research programs, including investigator-initiated studies, collaborative research, and broader evidence-generation efforts.

  • Serve as the primary medical and scientific expert for internal teams, policymakers, academic institutions, and key opinion leaders (KOLs).

  • Provide clinical and scientific input for product development, lifecycle management, and regulatory submissions.

  • Align medical and commercial strategies by partnering with Marketing and Commercial teams.

  • Support commercial teams with scientific training, clinical insights, and customer engagement materials.

  • Represent Abbott at national and international conferences, advisory boards, and scientific forums.

  • Ensure compliance with global medical governance standards and ethical requirements.


Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Medical Degree (M.D., D.O., MBBS, or equivalent international qualification).

  • Valid medical license and Board Certification in Hematology or Hematopathology.

  • Minimum 5 years of clinical experience as a Hematologist, Hematopathologist, or in a closely related specialty.

  • Proven leadership in medical affairs, clinical research, or scientific strategy roles.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complex scientific concepts for diverse audiences.

  • Demonstrated success in collaborating with cross-functional teams and external medical stakeholders.


Compensation

Base Pay Range:
USD 168,000 – 336,000 annually
(Compensation may vary depending on location and experience.)
