Job Overview

A leading healthcare revenue cycle management organization is hiring experienced Outpatient (OP) Medical Coders with active coding certifications. This role requires strong expertise in CPT and ICD-10 diagnosis coding, along with the ability to review medical documentation and ensure compliance with regulatory, payer, and quality standards.

The position offers exposure to a dynamic healthcare environment, continuous learning opportunities, and long-term career growth in medical coding, auditing, and compliance functions.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assign accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes for outpatient medical records in compliance with payer and regulatory guidelines.

  • Review complete OP medical documentation, including physician notes, encounter forms, operative reports, and supporting clinical records.

  • Validate code accuracy, sequencing, and completeness in alignment with government, insurance, and industry standards.

  • Identify documentation gaps and proactively follow up with providers or internal teams for clarification.

  • Communicate effectively with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders regarding coding-related queries.

  • Research complex or unusual coding scenarios using standard coding references and guidelines.

  • Review previous-day coding batches to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance.

  • Ensure all assigned codes are current, valid, and aligned with the latest coding updates.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: Any Graduate (Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Allied Health, or related fields preferred).

  • Experience: Minimum 3 to 7 years of hands-on experience in Outpatient Medical Coding.

  • Certification: Active certification from AAPC or AHIMA, including:

    • CPC / CPC-A

    • CIC

    • CCS

    • COC

  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.

  • Proven expertise in ICD-10 and CPT coding systems.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently while meeting productivity and quality benchmarks.

  • Flexibility to work from office or home based on operational requirements.
