Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and certified Medical Coding Auditor – Surgery Coding to ensure the accuracy and compliance of coded outpatient and inpatient records. The role involves reviewing, auditing, and educating coding professionals while contributing to revenue integrity and regulatory compliance in surgical coding practices.


Key Responsibilities:

Coding Audit & Review:

  • Audit and validate medical records by assigning accurate ICD-10, CPT-4, and HCPCS codes for Surgery procedures.

  • Perform coding audits for outpatient and/or inpatient records with a minimum 96% accuracy.

  • Identify and report coding discrepancies, compliance risks, or areas of improvement.

Productivity & Quality Assurance:

  • Meet or exceed defined productivity standards and turnaround time (TAT) requirements.

  • Maintain a high level of professionalism and ethical coding practices.

  • Ensure consistent compliance with industry standards, coding guidelines, and client expectations.

Process Improvement & Education:

  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing revenue leakage.

  • Support the training and education of coding staff, especially in surgery-specific coding areas.

  • Attend coding team meetings, refresher sessions, and educational conferences to stay updated with changes in coding regulations and procedures.


Qualifications:

Education:

  • Graduate in Life Sciences or a healthcare-related discipline.

Experience:

  • 2–4 years of hands-on experience in Medical Coding for Surgery.

  • Prior auditing experience and involvement in Physician Education will be considered an advantage.

Certifications (Preferred):

  • CCS, CPC, CPC-H, CIC, or COC from AAPC / AHIMA (Must provide valid certification proof).

Skills & Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of:

    • Surgical coding procedures

    • Medical terminology in an ambulatory or hospital setting

    • CPT-4, ICD-9, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding

  • Strong understanding of auditing principles, regulatory requirements, and coding compliance.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation and coding.
