Job Summary:
Optum is seeking a Medical Coding Analyst to join their global organization. The role focuses on coding accuracy, CPT/ICD/HCPCS code analysis, adherence to regulatory guidelines, and contributing to improved health outcomes. The analyst will work with a team guided by inclusion, integrity, and innovation.
Primary Responsibilities:
Apply updates from AMA, AHA, and CMS guidelines.
Review and analyze medical records, apply/modify CPT codes for minor procedures, vaccines, labs.
Extract and code screening CPT and HCPCS codes from clinical documentation.
Evaluate NCCI edits, LCD & NCD guidelines to adjust ICD-10-CM, CPT codes, and modifiers.
Collaborate effectively in a team to improve quality and productivity.
Ensure timely coding and edit resolutions in compliance with regulations.
Maintain confidentiality and security of all records and systems.
Comply with HIPAA and company employment policies, including flexibility with shifts or work locations.
Required Qualifications:
Graduate (Bachelor’s degree)
Certified coder through AAPC or AHIMA
(Accepted certifications: CPC, CCS, CIC, COC)
Must provide valid certification ID during interview/offer.
Solid understanding of Medical Terminology, Anatomy, Physiology.
Knowledge of system security policies and data protection.
Basic understanding of ED/EM levels, MDM, and modifier appending based on NCCI edits and CPT guidelines.
Proficient in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding standards.
