About the Role:
Optum, part of UnitedHealth Group, is looking for a skilled and certified Medical Coding Analyst to join their Hyderabad team. In this role, you’ll analyze clinical documentation and apply accurate CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM codes for minor surgical procedures, laboratory services, and preventive screenings. Key Responsibilities:
Review and analyze medical records to assign/modify CPT codes for vaccines, minor surgical procedures, and laboratory services as per documentation.
Apply ICD-10-CM codes, CPT codes, and modifiers based on NCCI edits and LCD/NCD coverage determinations.
Extract and code screening CPT and HCPCS codes accurately.
Stay updated with the latest AMA, AHA, and CMS guidelines to ensure compliant coding practices.
Work efficiently under general supervision, organizing and prioritizing work to meet turnaround and compliance standards.
Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure system security in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Contribute positively to team performance and process improvement in quality and productivity.
Adhere to company policies regarding job transfers, shift changes, and other business-related adjustments.
Required Qualifications:
Graduate in any discipline.
Certified coder through AAPC or AHIMA (CPC, CCS, CIC, or COC required).
Valid certification identification number must be provided during the interview or offer process.
Proficient knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS guidelines.
Sound understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Familiarity with NCCI edits and coverage policies (LCD/NCD).
Understanding of data security systems and associated protocols.
