Job Responsibilities:

  • Accurately assign diagnosis and CPT codes to surgical medical records using ICD-10 and CPT-4 systems.
  • Ensure coding for surgery-related records meets a minimum of 96% accuracy and complies with turnaround time requirements.
  • Exceed productivity standards for surgery medical coding, including inpatient and/or specialty-specific outpatient coding norms.
  • Maintain high professional and ethical standards at all times.
  • Engage in continuous improvement projects that help prevent revenue leakage while ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Stay up to date with coding skills and best practices by participating in team meetings and educational conferences.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduates in life sciences with 1-4 years of experience in medical coding, particularly for surgery.
  • Prior experience in surgery coding is required.
  • Familiarity with CPT-4, ICD-9, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding systems.
  • CCS, CPC, CPC-H, CIC, or COC certification from AAPC/AHIMA is a plus.
  • Freshers with a strong foundation in medical terminology, human anatomy, and physiology can apply.
  • Current coding certification with valid proof is required.
  • Good knowledge of medical coding, billing systems, regulatory requirements, and auditing principles.
