About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Medical Coder – Profee Multispecialty Surgery to support professional fee medical coding, multispecialty surgical documentation review, coding compliance, and healthcare reimbursement operations. This role is ideal for professionals with expertise in ICD-10-CM coding, CPT coding, HCPCS coding, Profee coding, surgical coding, emergency department coding, and medical records analysis.

The ideal candidate will accurately review clinical documentation, assign standardized medical codes, maintain coding productivity and quality targets, and support compliant reimbursement workflows in a high-performance healthcare operations environment.

This opportunity is highly suited for early-career medical coding professionals with surgical and multispecialty coding experience.

Key Responsibilities

Professional Fee Medical Coding (Profee)

  • Accurately convert patient diagnoses, procedures, and clinical services into standardized alphanumeric medical codes using:
    • ICD-10-CM
    • CPT (Current Procedural Terminology)
    • HCPCS coding systems
  • Ensure coding assignments align with healthcare billing guidelines, payer requirements, and client-specific coding standards.

Multispecialty Surgery Coding

  • Review and code complex clinical documentation across multispecialty surgical workflows.
  • Interpret operative notes, physician documentation, procedural details, and specialty-specific medical records accurately.
  • Support coding accuracy for professional fee surgical billing and reimbursement.

Emergency Department & Specialty Coding Support

  • Apply coding expertise in relevant specialties including:
    • Emergency Department (ED) coding
    • Multispecialty surgery coding
    • Radiology coding exposure
    • Additional healthcare specialties as assigned
  • Ensure proper code assignment across diverse healthcare documentation scenarios.

Coding Productivity & Turnaround Time Management

  • Complete assigned coding volumes accurately within defined turnaround times (TAT).
  • Manage workload efficiently to meet daily, weekly, and monthly productivity targets.
  • Ensure operational performance aligns with business delivery expectations.

Coding Quality & Accuracy Compliance

  • Maintain 95%+ coding accuracy consistently while achieving productivity goals.
  • Follow client-specific coding workflows, internal SOPs, and coding compliance requirements.
  • Ensure operational quality across all assigned coding tasks.

Team Collaboration & Performance Communication

  • Work closely with Team Leads (TL), Quality Analysts, and operational stakeholders to align performance expectations.
  • Participate in regular feedback sessions, quality reviews, and performance discussions.
  • Collaborate effectively within team-based healthcare operations environments.

QA Meetings & Continuous Improvement

  • Attend weekly QA and team meetings consistently.
  • Actively participate in two-way communication with Quality Analysts and Team Leads.
  • Apply audit feedback and quality recommendations to improve coding performance.

Workflow & Client Process Adherence

  • Develop strong understanding of client-specific workflows, coding rules, reimbursement requirements, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with assigned process documentation and coding protocols.

Information Security & Compliance

  • Protect confidentiality, integrity, and availability of healthcare information assets.
  • Follow organizational information security policies and healthcare data compliance requirements.
  • Report information security incidents as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduation or post-graduation in:
    • Life Sciences
    • Paramedical Sciences
    • Allied Healthcare disciplines
    • Related healthcare educational backgrounds
  • Minimum 1–2 years of relevant medical coding experience
