Primary Responsibilities

  • Medical Coding & Records Management

    • Assign ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes with 95%+ accuracy as per Coding Departmental guidelines.

    • Code inpatient and/or outpatient medical records daily based on the set schedule.

    • Identify and abstract records consistently and accurately for hospital statistics and government planning.

  • Compliance & Performance Standards

    • Meet productivity standards for coding and record entry.

    • Adhere to hospital reimbursement guidelines and ensure proper documentation.

    • Reduce non-essential interruptions to improve efficiency and meet deadlines.

  • Collaboration & Continuous Learning

    • Participate in coding meetings, training, and education conferences.

    • Attend conference calls related to coding updates and compliance.

    • Build cooperative relationships with departmental and hospital staff.

  • Workplace Flexibility

    • Adhere to company policies related to employment terms, work shifts, and alternative work arrangements.

    • Be flexible with working additional hours when necessary.

    • Adapt to changing business needs as determined by Optum.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: Graduate (any discipline).

  • Experience:

    • Certified fresher or experienced medical coder.

    • Experience level: G23 (0 to 1 year in medical coding).

  • Certification:

    • Must be certified through AAPC or AHIMA.

    • Accepted certifications: CPC, CCS, CIC, COC (any one).

    • Must provide valid certification ID during the interview or offer process.
