Job Summary

Optum, a global healthcare and technology leader under UnitedHealth Group, is looking for a Medical Coder – MCC in Pune to deliver high‑quality, compliant ICD‑10 and CPT‑4 coding for inpatient and outpatient medical records. The role is ideal for AAPC/AHIMA certified coders (CPC/CCS/CIC/COC) ranging from freshers to 3+ years of experience (G23–G24) who can consistently meet ≥95% coding accuracy, productivity targets, and support accurate hospital reimbursement, statistics, and regulatory reporting.


Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign ICD‑10 and/or CPT‑4 codes to inpatient/outpatient records per departmental guidelines with ≥95% accuracy.

  • Identify and abstract records to support hospital, regional, and government planning and reimbursement.

  • Meet departmental productivity standards and daily coding schedules.

  • Participate in coding meetings, education conferences, and conference calls to maintain accuracy and compliance.

  • Exhibit strong time management—meet deadlines and minimize non‑essential interruptions.

  • Demonstrate flexibility in working/shift hours as required.

  • Build collaborative relationships with hospital and departmental staff.

  • Comply with company policies, potential reassignment, shift changes, and evolving business directives.


Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Graduate – any discipline.

  • Mandatory active certification from AAPC or AHIMA (accepted: CPC, CCS, CIC, COC – any one).

  • G23 (0–2+ yrs) or G24 (3+ yrs) in medical coding (certified freshers can apply).

  • Solid knowledge of ICD‑10 & CPT‑4, sequencing logic, and coding department guidelines.

  • Proven ability to meet quality (≥95%) and productivity metrics.

  • Strong attention to detail, documentation abstraction skills, and deadline orientation.

  • Willingness to upskill continuously via coding meetings and education sessions.
