Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain a working knowledge of CPT-4, ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS coding principles, governmental regulations, and third-party coding documentation guidelines.
  • Understand the Physician query process and write queries in compliance with OIG and UHDDS regulations.
  • Apply knowledge of MS-DRG, MDC, AP-DRG, APR-DRG, and secondary diagnoses (CC and MCC) in coding.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI) programs to ensure accurate MS-DRG coding.
  • Review inpatient and observation medical records to assign accurate ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and/or CPT codes with appropriate modifiers.
  • Maintain productivity and quality standards while meeting turnaround time targets with accuracy.
  • Ensure internal accuracy of 95%, while adhering to productivity standards per specialty.
  • Focus on continuous improvement through ongoing training and projects to reduce revenue leakage and ensure compliance.
  • Participate in coding team meetings and educational conferences to stay updated on coding practices and regulations.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate in life sciences with 1-4 years of experience in medical coding.
  • CCS/CIC certification with hospital coding experience is preferred.
  • Exposure to Encoder tools such as 3M, Trucode is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of medical coding, billing systems, medical terminologies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Candidates will have the opportunity to undergo certification training sponsored by AAPC and AHIMA.
  • High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
