Job Summary:

As a Medical Coder – Emergency Department at LexiCode, you will be part of a high-performing team of coders dedicated to delivering top-tier coding services. You will review and code Emergency Department records, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory guidelines, and client expectations.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze Emergency Department medical records to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures.

  • Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and/or HCPCS codes in alignment with documentation.

  • Maintain coding accuracy and integrity across all assigned cases.

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and uphold strict patient confidentiality.

  • Keep up to date with evolving coding guidelines, payer regulations, and best practices.

  • Participate in internal coding audits and support continuous quality improvement efforts.

  • Meet or exceed established productivity and accuracy benchmarks.

  • Collaborate effectively with clinical and administrative teams when necessary.


Required Qualifications:

  • Possession of one of the following credentials:

    • CCS (AHIMA)

    • CPC or CIC (AAPC)

  • Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department coding experience

  • Strong working knowledge of:

    • ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS

    • Official coding guidelines and conventions

  • Experience using coding software and EHR systems

  • Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills


Preferred Skills (Nice to Have):

  • Familiarity with audit procedures and coding compliance

  • Previous experience in a healthcare BPO or multi-client coding environment

  • Exposure to coding productivity tracking tools
