As a Medical Coder – Emergency Department at LexiCode, you will be part of a high-performing team of coders dedicated to delivering top-tier coding services. You will review and code Emergency Department records, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory guidelines, and client expectations.
Review and analyze Emergency Department medical records to identify relevant diagnoses and procedures.
Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and/or HCPCS codes in alignment with documentation.
Maintain coding accuracy and integrity across all assigned cases.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and uphold strict patient confidentiality.
Keep up to date with evolving coding guidelines, payer regulations, and best practices.
Participate in internal coding audits and support continuous quality improvement efforts.
Meet or exceed established productivity and accuracy benchmarks.
Collaborate effectively with clinical and administrative teams when necessary.
Possession of one of the following credentials:
CCS (AHIMA)
CPC or CIC (AAPC)
Minimum 1 year of Emergency Department coding experience
Strong working knowledge of:
ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS
Official coding guidelines and conventions
Experience using coding software and EHR systems
Excellent analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
Strong communication and collaboration skills
Familiarity with audit procedures and coding compliance
Previous experience in a healthcare BPO or multi-client coding environment
Exposure to coding productivity tracking tools
