Job Title: Medical Coder
Location: Not specified (assumed India-based unless noted otherwise)
Experience Level: Certified Fresher / 0–1 Year Experience (G23 Level)


Job Summary:

The Medical Coder is responsible for accurately coding inpatient and/or outpatient medical records using ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes. These codes help index medical data used for statistics, planning, and ensuring accurate hospital reimbursements. The role requires attention to detail, time management, and compliance with certification and coding standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Code inpatient and/or outpatient records daily as per department schedule

  • Assign ICD-10 and/or CPT-4 codes accurately with ≥95% accuracy rate

  • Ensure proper sequencing and choice of codes following departmental guidelines

  • Abstract data consistently and accurately from medical records

  • Meet productivity and deadline standards for coding

  • Attend coding meetings and educational conferences

  • Collaborate effectively with hospital and department staff

  • Participate in conference calls when required

  • Demonstrate flexibility in working hours when needed

  • Understand how role contributes to overall hospital performance


Qualifications:

  • Graduate in any discipline

  • Certified Medical Coder through AAPC or AHIMA

    • Accepted certifications: CPC, CCS, CIC, COC (any one)

  • Certification ID proof required during interview or offer process

  • Open to:

    • Certified freshers, or

    • Experienced coders with 0–1 year of experience (G23 Level)
