Position: Experienced Medical Collector
Physician Billing Specialists, LLC, a growing medical billing company, seeks a self-motivated, team-oriented Medical Collector with experience in office-based medical insurance collections. Preferred candidates will have dermatology and pathology collections experience and knowledge of Medicaid and other carrier claims.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform insurance collections activities to ensure correct and complete reimbursement for each claim, including:
    • Online claims follow-up.
    • Contacting payers and/or patients by phone.
    • Appealing claim denials and resubmitting claims with corrections.
    • Resolving authorization errors.
  • Review client-submitted coding to ensure accuracy for denied claims.
  • Process and apply insurance denials and patient adjustments to correct accounts and dates of service.
  • Coordinate reimbursements among responsible parties.
  • Ensure accounts reflect accurate and complete reimbursements.
  • Address billing inquiries from patients, clients, insurance companies, and other sources.
  • Identify and resolve patient billing complaints.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards.
  • Participate in training, staff meetings, and educational activities as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience: Knowledge of medical billing and collections practices. Dermatology, pathology, and Medicaid collections experience are preferred.
  • Skills: Willingness to learn various practice management systems, clearinghouses, payer websites, and other online resources.
