Position Overview

Pediatric Associates is looking for a Medical Assistant to join the team at the Dove Creek location in San Antonio, TX. This position offers an exciting opportunity to provide quality patient care while working alongside a skilled clinical team. The role includes both clinical and administrative tasks, supporting pediatric patients and clinicians in promoting health and wellness.

Primary Functions

  • Patient care: Provide excellent care through performing vitals, taking medical histories, assisting with procedures, and supporting clinicians in patient examinations.
  • Vaccine & medication management: Administer vaccines and medications, ensuring proper handling, storage, and cold chain management.
  • Phlebotomy & lab: Collect and process lab samples, ensuring accurate documentation and reporting.
  • Documentation & follow-up: Update medical records, assist with prescription refills, and follow-up on patient needs.
  • Customer service: Foster a welcoming, safe, and clean environment for patients and their families, ensuring a high-quality patient experience.
  • Emergency response: Assist clinicians in emergency situations, providing immediate care when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree in General Medicine for foreign doctors).
  • Certifications: MA Diploma/Certification required or at least 3 years of MA experience in lieu of certification. Active BLS certification required.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a medical assistant role, preferably in a pediatric or healthcare setting.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of basic medical terminology, immunization practices, and safety standards.
