Position Overview

The Medical Assistant Float will work across various Pediatric Associates locations in San Antonio, including ABCD Boerne, ABCD Schertz, ABCD Bulverde, Blanco, ABCD TTY, ABCD Kid Doc, and ABCD Stone Oak. New hires receive a $1K sign-on bonus and $2 extra per hour. Internal candidates receive $500. You will be part of a clinician-led team supporting pediatric care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Patient Experience: Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment, ensuring patients are comfortable.
  • Vital Signs: Record intake vitals such as height, weight, temperature, blood pressure, and pulse.
  • Medical Documentation: Accurately document medical histories, current medications, allergies, and other relevant patient information.
  • Support Clinicians: Assist with examinations, screenings, suture removal, wound care, and specialty procedures.
  • Vaccine Administration: Administer vaccines and medications, ensuring proper cold chain management and documentation.
  • Phlebotomy: Perform lab sample collection and process them appropriately.
  • Follow-Up: Coordinate prescriptions, referrals, and follow-up appointments to meet patient needs.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's in General Medicine for foreign doctors.
  • Certification: MA Diploma/Certification (or 3+ years of experience), Active BLS certification required.
  • Experience: 1+ year of Medical Assistant experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational and customer service skills.
    • Knowledge of medical terminology and immunizations.
    • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and handle emergencies.
    • Proficient in electronic health recordkeeping systems.

Working Conditions

  • Direct patient care in a clinic setting.
  • Travel between office locations (15%-20%), reimbursed by the company.
  • Indoor work environment with some exposure to hazards and extreme temperatures.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs. and push/pull up to 200 lbs.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, and reach as necessary.
  • Ability to wear PPE.
