The Opportunity

Abbott is seeking a Medical Advisor CIS based in Almaty within the EPD Division. In this role, you will provide scientific and clinical expertise to support and drive Abbott’s product offerings within the region.

What You’ll Do:

  1. Medical Strategy Development:

    • Develop and execute medical strategies for assigned Abbott products and therapeutic areas (TAs). This includes setting goals, involving key experts, proposing clinical studies, analyzing medical literature, responding to medical inquiries, preparing slide decks, and approving promotional materials.
  2. Opportunity Identification:

    • Identify new opportunities for products and work within a brand team to implement them. Organize Advisory Boards and prepare scientific publications to support the product strategy.
  3. Engagement with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs):

    • Collaborate with KOLs, including Chief Specialists of the Ministry of Health, healthcare associations, and groups developing clinical guidelines, to advance Abbott products.
  4. Clinical Study Contributions:

    • Strategically contribute to planning and executing clinical studies for Abbott products in your region.
  5. Portfolio Management:

    • Conduct assessments of molecules and cases for the portfolio (including Business Development assessments), independently build patient flow models, and provide medical justification for products.
  6. Cross-Functional Support:

    • Provide responses to various stakeholders including Pharmacovigilance (PV), Quality Assurance (QA), and Regulatory Affairs in regard to special requests.

Requirements:

  • Education: A medical degree is preferred, but candidates with other relevant education such as pharmaceutical or biological sciences are also considered. A PhD is an advantage.
  • Experience: 1-2 years of previous experience as a Medical Advisor or Medical Science Liaison (MSL) in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical skills and strategic thinking.
    • Excellent ability to work with medical literature, analyze competitive information, and make data-driven decisions.
    • Medical writing and presentation skills, with the ability to present findings and strategies to senior management (e.g., IB, MTC).
    • Ability to work effectively in a complex, multitasking, and cross-cultural environment with stakeholders globally.
    • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate and work proactively within teams.
