Position Summary

The Manager, Medical Writing (Narratives) is responsible for supervising and developing medical writing staff, coordinating resources, and ensuring the delivery of clear, accurate, high-quality medical writing deliverables that meet regulatory, client, and internal standards.


Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Staff Development

  • Supervise and develop direct reports by setting goals, conducting performance reviews, and assessing training needs

  • Create individual development plans, mentor, and coach team members

  • Recommend actions regarding salary administration, recruitment, onboarding, terminations, performance appraisals, job descriptions, and employee counseling

Operational Management

  • Set departmental priorities, schedule resources, and implement company objectives

  • Advise staff on policies, procedures, technical challenges, and workflow methods

  • Manage and oversee medical writing deliverables following company/client SOPs

Quality Control & Collaboration

  • Review medical writing products for completeness, accuracy, and quality

  • Perform reviews of statistical analysis plans and tables/figures/listings

  • Form and lead cross-functional writing teams, addressing issues proactively

Strategic Support

  • Assist leadership with document development strategies, quarterly business updates, and issue resolution

  • Aid in preparation of budgets, timelines, revenue tracking, invoicing, and forecasting

  • Participate in the planning, writing, and assembling of medical writing deliverables

  • Develop and maintain departmental SOPs and templates

  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers

  • Track and review departmental performance metrics

Business Development Support

  • Assist with proposal and costing development

  • Support bid defenses and customer meetings


Salary Range

$95,000.00 – $175,700.00
Salary varies based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
