Position Summary

The Manager, Medical Writing (Narratives) is responsible for supervising medical writing staff, coordinating resources, and ensuring delivery of high-quality, accurate, and compliant medical writing outputs that meet regulatory, client, and internal standards.


Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Staff Management

  • Supervise and develop direct reports by setting goals, conducting performance reviews, and evaluating training needs

  • Create development plans, mentor, and coach staff

  • Recommend actions on salary administration, recruitment, onboarding, terminations, performance appraisals, job descriptions, and employee counseling

  • Advise staff on policies, procedures, technical challenges, priorities, and methodologies

Project & Quality Oversight

  • Manage team’s medical writing deliverables in accordance with company/client SOPs

  • Lead and maintain cross-functional writing teams, proactively addressing issues

  • Review work products for completeness, accuracy, and quality

  • Perform reviews of statistical analysis plans and table/figure/listings

Strategic Support & Operations

  • Support leadership in document development strategies and quarterly business updates

  • Assist in budget preparation, timelines, revenue tracking, invoicing, and forecasting

  • Participate in planning, writing, and assembling medical writing deliverables

  • Develop and maintain departmental SOPs and templates

  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers

  • Track and review departmental metrics

  • Support business development through proposal writing, costing, bid defenses, and customer meetings


Salary Range

$95,000.00 – $175,700.00
Actual salary varies based on qualifications, skills, and experience.
