Position Summary

The Manager, Medical Writing (Narratives) is responsible for the oversight, leadership, and quality assurance of narrative writing deliverables. This includes managing a team of medical writers, supporting cross-functional collaboration, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to strategic business operations.


Key Responsibilities

1. Team & Staff Management

  • Supervise medical writing team members

  • Conduct performance reviews, mentoring, and career development

  • Assess training needs and create development plans

  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, and performance issues

2. Operational Oversight

  • Set priorities and allocate departmental resources

  • Ensure projects meet quality, compliance, and client expectations

  • Implement company objectives and process improvements

  • Provide guidance on technical challenges and policy adherence

3. Document & Quality Management

  • Oversee narrative and other writing deliverables in compliance with SOPs

  • Review deliverables for clarity, accuracy, and regulatory compliance

  • Review statistical analysis plans and TFLs (tables/figures/listings)

  • Participate in writing or assembling documents when required

4. Strategy & Collaboration

  • Lead and maintain productive cross-functional writing teams

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to address challenges

  • Support leadership with strategic planning, business updates, and issue resolution

5. Business Support

  • Assist with medical writing budget planning and timeline development

  • Support revenue, forecasting, and invoicing activities

  • Contribute to proposal development, cost estimation, and bid defenses

  • Track and review department metrics

6. Process Development

  • Maintain and improve departmental SOPs and templates

  • Serve as a subject matter resource for documentation processes


Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary Range: $95,000 – $175,700 USD
    Actual salary based on qualifications, skills, and experience
