About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategically driven Manager – Medical Affairs to lead scientific engagement, medical strategy, and evidence-based support for a growing pharmaceutical portfolio. This opportunity is ideal for experienced medical professionals with expertise in medical affairs, scientific communication, key opinion leader (KOL) engagement, evidence generation, and therapy area strategy development.

The ideal candidate will serve as a core scientific leader, collaborating with internal business teams and external healthcare stakeholders to drive medical strategy, strengthen scientific credibility, and support optimized patient outcomes.

This role is particularly suited for medical professionals with strong expertise in cardiovascular, metabolic, diabetes, or nephrology therapeutic areas.

Key Responsibilities

Medical Strategy & Scientific Leadership

  • Serve as a core scientific member of cross-functional franchise teams supporting therapeutic portfolio strategy and medical enablement.
  • Develop and execute strategic medical affairs plans aligned with organizational business and scientific objectives.
  • Drive evidence-based medical strategy for assigned therapeutic areas, including disease education, clinical communication, and scientific initiatives.
  • Support robust medical evaluation of new products through scientific research, evidence assessment, and expert consultations.

KOL Engagement & External Scientific Partnerships

  • Act as the primary scientific representative for healthcare professionals, specialists, and Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs).
  • Identify, profile, map, and engage thought leaders across assigned therapeutic areas and geographies.
  • Build strategic peer-to-peer scientific relationships with physicians and clinical experts.
  • Organize and support advisory boards, expert meetings, scientific discussions, medical education programs, and evidence generation initiatives.
  • Gather clinical insights from healthcare stakeholders and translate them into strategic therapeutic recommendations.

Scientific Communication & Medical Education

  • Deliver scientific presentations and educational interactions for healthcare professionals and internal teams.
  • Communicate balanced, accurate, and evidence-based scientific information related to products, treatment trends, and disease management.
  • Handle complex scientific queries from healthcare professionals and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute training plans to ensure internal teams remain updated on the latest medical developments and therapeutic evidence.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Internal Medical Support

  • Partner with marketing, sales, regulatory, market access, and cross-functional business teams to support medical strategy execution.
  • Provide scientific support for product launches, promotional content review, and medical governance activities.
  • Ensure promotional and medical communication materials meet scientific accuracy and compliance expectations.
  • Represent the organization at internal and external scientific forums, conferences, and healthcare engagements.

Evidence Generation & Medical Insights

  • Support development and execution of evidence generation projects, medical research initiatives, and scientific insight programs.
  • Monitor emerging clinical trends, scientific literature, disease treatment patterns, and competitive medical developments.
  • Use external medical insights to shape therapeutic strategy and patient-focused scientific initiatives.

Compliance & Medical Governance

  • Ensure all scientific activities align with internal compliance standards, ethical expectations, and applicable pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Support scientific governance, medical review processes, and responsible healthcare communication practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Medical Doctor (MBBS) with postgraduate medical qualification or equivalent advanced medical education.
  • 4+ years of relevant pharmaceutical industry or clinical research experience in medical affairs, regional medical advisory, head office medical advisory, or related strategic medical roles.
  • Strong expertise in medical affairs strategy, scientific communication, KOL engagement, evidence generation, and healthcare stakeholder management.
  • Experience in cardiovascular, metabolic, diabetes, nephrology, or related therapeutic areas is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to communicate complex scientific concepts effectively to both medical and non-medical audiences.
  • Experience supporting medical plans, strategic initiatives, and cross-functional pharmaceutical business environments.
  • Strong analytical thinking, communication, stakeholder influence, and strategic decision-making capabilities.
