Position Overview:
Roche Diagnostics Seattle is seeking a Lab Assistant 1 to support our fast-paced R&D laboratory operations. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in laboratory work who are eager to develop hands-on experience in DNA sequencing, molecular biology, and lab operations. The position plays a key role in maintaining lab efficiency, equipment functionality, and organizational excellence while contributing to cutting-edge sequencing research.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Order, track, and manage laboratory supplies and reagents.

  • Maintain, calibrate, and repair laboratory equipment, including pipettes and other tools.

  • Perform routine lab maintenance tasks, including cleaning glassware, vials, and lab instruments.

  • Maintain overall laboratory cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance.

  • Interpret directions accurately and translate them into efficient laboratory actions.

  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, proposing enhancements to lab processes.

  • Assist Central Services (CS) team members and support the CS manager with day-to-day lab operations.

  • Adhere to Roche Diagnostics policies and maintain a professional, positive approach in all responsibilities.

Experience & Qualifications (Required):

  • Previous laboratory or research experience in a molecular biology, biochemistry, or biotechnology setting.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.

  • Solid analytical skills with the ability to follow protocols accurately.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficiency with basic computer tools, including Excel.

  • Ability to work safely and professionally in a laboratory environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, or Engineering.

  • Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, laboratory instrumentation, or DNA sequencing workflows.

  • Interest in advanced sequencing technologies, including SBX™.

Location & Compensation:

  • On-site: Seattle, Washington (This is not a remote position).

  • Salary Range: $37,800 – $70,200, depending on experience, qualifications, and geographic location.

  • Discretionary annual bonus may be offered based on individual and company performance.
