Position Overview:
Roche Diagnostics Seattle is seeking a Lab Assistant 1 to support our fast-paced R&D laboratory operations. This role is ideal for individuals with a background in laboratory work who are eager to develop hands-on experience in DNA sequencing, molecular biology, and lab operations. The position plays a key role in maintaining lab efficiency, equipment functionality, and organizational excellence while contributing to cutting-edge sequencing research.
Key Responsibilities:
Order, track, and manage laboratory supplies and reagents.
Maintain, calibrate, and repair laboratory equipment, including pipettes and other tools.
Perform routine lab maintenance tasks, including cleaning glassware, vials, and lab instruments.
Maintain overall laboratory cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance.
Interpret directions accurately and translate them into efficient laboratory actions.
Identify opportunities to improve workflows, proposing enhancements to lab processes.
Assist Central Services (CS) team members and support the CS manager with day-to-day lab operations.
Adhere to Roche Diagnostics policies and maintain a professional, positive approach in all responsibilities.
Experience & Qualifications (Required):
Previous laboratory or research experience in a molecular biology, biochemistry, or biotechnology setting.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
Solid analytical skills with the ability to follow protocols accurately.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with basic computer tools, including Excel.
Ability to work safely and professionally in a laboratory environment.
Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Physics, or Engineering.
Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, laboratory instrumentation, or DNA sequencing workflows.
Interest in advanced sequencing technologies, including SBX™.
Location & Compensation:
On-site: Seattle, Washington (This is not a remote position).
Salary Range: $37,800 – $70,200, depending on experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
Discretionary annual bonus may be offered based on individual and company performance.
