Position: Remote Acute IP HIMS Coder

Company: CornerStone Professional Placement

Location: Fully Remote (Open to applicants from FL, AZ, NC, TX, and IN)

Compensation: $40 - $50/hr

Duration: 13 weeks with potential for renewal

Role Overview: CornerStone Professional Placement is seeking an experienced Remote Acute IP HIMS Coder for a healthcare client. In this role, you will abstract clinical information from various medical records, assign and sequence ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnosis and procedure codes, and review health record documentation to accurately identify and code primary and secondary diagnoses and procedures. Your work will ensure proper DRG assignment and accurate billing for inpatient records.

Key Responsibilities:

Abstract clinical information from a range of medical records.
Assign and sequence ICD-10-CM/PCS diagnosis and procedure codes.
Review and interpret health record documentation to identify pertinent diagnoses and procedures.
Ensure accurate DRG and POA assignment for inpatient billing.
Work independently with minimal supervision and complete routine tasks efficiently.
Maintain strong attention to detail and handle a fast-paced work environment effectively.

Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent.
At least 2 years of inpatient coding experience in an acute hospital setting.
Completed training in ICD-10 and CPT coding.
Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS coding guidelines, DRG, and POA assignment.
Health field-related certifications or degrees (e.g., CCS, CCS-P, CCA, CPC, CPC-H/COC, CIC, CPC-P) are preferred.
Must have access to a personal laptop.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently.
