Position Overview

As a Pharmacist at Sutter Health, you will deliver patient-centered pharmaceutical care, ensuring safe, effective, and cost-efficient medication therapy. Utilizing advanced clinical skills, you will contribute to treatment plans, educate patients, and support pharmacy residents in an accredited residency program. You will adhere to regulatory standards while collaborating with patients, healthcare providers, and support staff.


Key Responsibilities

Pharmacy Services

  • Review and interpret physician orders to prepare and dispense medications.

  • Conduct therapeutic drug monitoring and provide advice on interventions.

  • Mentor pharmacy residents, students, interns, and technicians.

  • Manage pharmacy operations, including verifying order entries, labeling, and workflow.

Clerical Duties

  • Document patient care activities in electronic health records (EHR).

  • Answer inquiries from healthcare professionals and provide pharmacological information.

Safety and Compliance

  • Follow infection control protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

  • Adhere to all regulatory requirements, including DEA, FDA, USP, and TJC standards.

  • Ensure proper handling of controlled substances and maintain compliance with state and federal laws.

Educational Leadership

  • Precept pharmacy residents in an ASHP-accredited residency program.

  • Train pharmacy staff and healthcare professionals in clinical and operational practices.

Fulfillment Center Support

  • Float to various locations within the designated service area as assigned.


Qualifications

Education

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an accredited program.

Licensure and Certifications

  • Licensed as a Pharmacist (PHARMD or PHARMR).

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant pharmacy experience.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Expertise in medical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, and regulations.

  • Familiarity with EPIC and other pharmacy-related technology.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Effective communication skills to interact with diverse audiences.


Work Environment and Schedule

  • Regular full-time role with an 8-hour shift schedule.

  • Requires flexibility to work variable days and rotating weekends.

  • May involve handling hazardous drugs per NIOSH and USP 800 guidelines.


Compensation and Benefits

  • Pay Range: $95.50 to $109.80 per hour.
