Overview

IQVIA is seeking a dedicated Histologist I to join its advanced laboratory operations in Durham, North Carolina. This role offers an excellent opportunity for professionals experienced in histopathology to contribute to high-quality tissue processing, staining, and slide preparation that supports critical clinical and research studies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine histology procedures including tissue processing, paraffin embedding, sectioning, and staining.

  • Prepare microscope slides for pathologist review in accordance with established laboratory protocols.

  • Execute specialized staining techniques to support accurate pathological assessment.

  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain histology laboratory instruments and equipment.

  • Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, and regulatory standards.

  • Assist in process improvements, troubleshooting, and updates to SOPs.

  • Manage inventory, maintain lab organization, and support adherence to 6S standards.

  • Document all procedures following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).

  • Participate in study setup activities and collaborate on cross-functional laboratory projects.


Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • 2–3 years of experience in a histopathology laboratory or related field.

  • ASCP certification or equivalent preferred, with minimum 1 year of experience in a clinical, academic, research, or production environment.

  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and laboratory experience may be considered.


Skills and Competencies

  • Proficiency in standard histology methods, staining procedures, and specialized equipment.

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to troubleshoot technical issues.

  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities for interaction with colleagues, managers, and clients.

  • Ability to meet physical requirements including lifting up to 50 lbs, prolonged standing or walking, and occasional exposure to cold temperatures.


Compensation

Annual base pay range: USD $46,200 – $96,200
Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and employment schedule. Additional incentives, bonuses, and comprehensive health and welfare benefits may be offered.
