The Head - Ethics and Compliance role at Abbott, reporting to the Director of the Office of Ethics and Compliance in India, is focused on advising and driving compliance initiatives within the pharmaceutical division of Abbott. This position requires a deep understanding of the Indian healthcare compliance landscape and a strategic approach to embedding ethical business practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Compliance Advisory:

    • Provide counsel on compliance and ethical business practices to the pharmaceutical division.
    • Understand and navigate the Indian healthcare compliance landscape, including relevant laws, industry codes, and practices.
  2. Compliance Program Enhancement:

    • Assist in enhancing Abbott’s local Compliance Program by executing and driving compliance strategy through collaborative efforts.
    • Work quickly to understand Abbott's business structures, practices, policies, and procedures to provide effective compliance advice.
  3. Stakeholder Collaboration:

    • Build strong, collaborative relationships with key business leaders and stakeholders to drive consensus and support compliance initiatives.
    • Align business partners' interests with compliance goals to promote ethical leadership across the organization.
  4. Cross-Functional Collaboration:

    • Collaborate with various functional teams to ensure seamless integration and implementation of compliance and ethics initiatives.
  5. Strategic Business Advisor:

    • Analyze internal and external factors to identify potential risks and provide business advisory services, balancing business goals with compliance risk.
    • Provide viable solutions to complex business issues while ensuring compliance.
  6. Dynamic Work Environment:

    • Demonstrate the ability to adapt and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
    • Think quickly and proactively to address emerging challenges.
  7. Risk Management & Preventive Controls:

    • Leverage strong analytical skills to identify risks and propose preventive controls based on data-driven insights.
    • Actively monitor changes in the compliance landscape and respond to emerging issues promptly.
  8. Education & Training:

    • Develop, implement, and coordinate training programs focused on Abbott’s corporate compliance program, including policies, procedures, and ethical values.
  9. Leadership & Employee Performance:

    • Lead and inspire the compliance team to support innovation, creative problem-solving, and high standards of ethics.
    • Provide feedback to employees, recognize achievements, and support individual growth while managing performance expectations.
    • Engage in tough performance discussions to ensure accountability.
  10. Consistency Across Affiliates:

    • Collaborate with compliance counterparts to establish consistent compliance practices across Abbott’s affiliates, ensuring alignment and standardization of procedures.
