Primary Function/Goals/Objectives:
The primary goal of this position is to oversee the analysis and management of IPT (In-Process Testing) labs and ensure smooth lab operations while maintaining high-quality standards for finished products and in-process materials at the Jhagadia plant.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Develop strong interpersonal relationships across functions and ensure effective decision-making regarding in-process quality status, materials, hygiene, and GMP compliance across the manufacturing area, warehouse, factory premises, and dispatch vehicles.
  • Manage and implement EHS (Environmental, Health, and Safety) procedures and ensure that team members consistently follow safety protocols, attend safety training, and wear necessary PPE.
  • Lead the identification of safety issues, ensuring zero injuries, and report opportunities to reduce energy, water usage, and waste.
  • Provide leadership in implementing GMP and QMS (Quality Management System) requirements by preparing SOPs and work instructions, performing gap analysis, and ensuring the laboratory operates with calibrated equipment.
  • Perform validations for new and existing equipment and ensure timely and accurate analysis of finished products and intermediate products to maintain quality standards.
  • Oversee laboratory hygiene, cleanliness, and workplace safety in line with EHS guidelines and audit citations.
  • Collect, manage, and maintain retention samples as per Abbott Nutrition (AN) policy and conduct root cause analysis for deviations in manufacturing and engineering processes.
  • Build and manage the IPT team, ensuring stability and performance through recruitment, goal-setting, coaching, and staff development activities.
  • Support the preparation of Opex and Capex budgets for the in-process function and ensure the successful execution of new and ongoing projects.

Education & Background:

  • Postgraduate in Chemistry/Dairy Chemistry/Food Science with 2-3 years of experience in the food industry, or
  • Graduate in Chemistry/Food Science with 4-5 years of experience in the food industry.
  • Knowledge of analytical procedures, GMP, FSSC 22000, and safety requirements in a food processing industry.
  • Hands-on experience with GLP, GHP, GDP, and cGMP.

Accountability & Scope:

  • Ensure the laboratory operates with calibrated equipment and perform performance qualifications as per specified frequencies.
  • Support team development and provide training on GMP and QMS requirements.
  • Ensure timely feedback on product quality trends to production and collaborate with cross-functional teams for troubleshooting.
  • Ensure high accuracy in measurements and maintain a safe working environment in the lab.
